A federal judge denied bail for alleged sex cult leader Keith Raniere on Tuesday, ridiculing his lawyers' proposal to move him to a “private jail,” instead of the federal detention facility he's in now.

“The private jail concept has problems,” Judge Nicholas G. Garufis said after the roughly hour-long hearing in Brooklyn federal court.

“It makes a mockery of the criminal justice system, where people can’t get $100 together to get off Rikers Island,” he added, referring to New York City’s notorious island jail.

EX-POLICE CHIEF, OFFICERS FRAMED TEEN FOR BURGLARIES TO BOOST STATS, FEDS SAY

A police chief and two police officers in a small Miami suburb were indicted Monday for framing an innocent 16-year-old in order to preserve the town's perfect record for solving burglaries, federal prosecutors charge.

Former Biscayne Park police chief Raimundo Atesiano and former officers Charlie Dayoub and Raul Fernandez falsely arrested a 16-year-boy in 2013 for four unsolved burglaries, "knowing that there was no evidence and no lawful basis to support such charges," a Monday news release by federal prosecutors in Miami announcing the indictment said.

The boy was arrested “to maintain a fictitious 100 percent clearance rate of reported burglaries,” the news release added. After arresting the boy, Atesiano announced at a Biscayne Park City Council meeting that his department had "a 100 percent clearance rate for burglaries,” according to the indictment.

ALLEGED SEX CULT NXIVM LEADER SAYS GOVERNMENT IS THE ‘MORALITY POLICE’ OF ‘SMART, CURIOUS ADULTS’

Lawyers for a man accused of trafficking women for his “sex cult” said he's the victim of a government frame-up.

Keith Raniere, co-founder of Albany-based NXIVM, should be released on bail, his lawyers argued in a legal brief filed on Tuesday, because the group, while unconventional, and “bold,” was not a cult and Raniere did not force, coerce or trick women into doing anything.

Raniere and actress Allison Mack face a three-count felony indictment charging them with sex trafficking, conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and forced labor — charges that carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison.

“These were not trafficked women.” Marc Agnifilo, one of Raniere’s lawyers and co-author of the brief, said in an interview with Oxygen.com. “They’re actresses who now have the opportunity to be in screenplays. They’re actresses who are now making movies."

“There are no facts that were uncovered that would have led to the justification for this level of use of force in this incident,” the report found. Saulters was fired on Saturday.
